What's happening with the empty lots?
I would like to know if anyone knows what is going on with TR Hughes and the empty lots. I see that they are now trying to sell houses in our subdivision starting at $150,000. When we recently refinanced and had an appraisal done, it was disheartening to see how much our property value had dropped. If they are going to build smaller homes, it will only add that that devaluation. Thanks for any information anyone has. Jeanne (1335 Dayton Lane)

Hello neighbors
Hello neighbors! I want to thank everyone for utilizing this blog. I think it can be a great resource for our neighborhood if more people use it.
Just an FYI....
I had copied everyone's comments and made each one an individual post. Instead of everyone "commenting" on Donna Carmichael's original post, it's better to "create a new post." The reason for this is comments are hidden unless the reader clicks on view comments. If everyone creates their own post, then everyone reading the blog will be able to view it.
Just to recap on how to make your own post:
After you have reached this website, you will want to Login, which is in the upper right hand corner of the webpage. Our Login is: hamptonwoods09@gmail.com our password is: trhughes.
Once you are logged in, you want to click on "New Post" to create your new post. Once you are on this new post, type in your title, then your message. Once you are finished you click on "Publish Post" and it's published for everyone to read. If anyone needs help, please don't hesitate to call or email me and I would be more than willing to help you out. katie.compardo@gmail.com or 314-249-9462.
Thanks!

A Post from Mark Gavan...
Hello Neighbors,
Vince and Jan Seyer (1593 Wainscott Dr.) here. Don’t know if anyone else noticed the electric signs in O’Fallon last week about the City-Wide Subdivision Trustee meeting that was held on Thursday night at City Hall.
Vince called John Schupp (our subdivision trustee) to see if he was planning to attend and when he said he was going to be out of town, we volunteered to go in his place.
Below is an attempt to relate the information given out at the meeting.
• The attendance was very large and the meeting was conducted by Officer Julie Long
• Julie explained that she is in charge of the Neighborhood Preservation Team which works to make sure all residences are kept up to codeo Her team investigates reports of code violations, i.e., overgrown yards, buildings needing repairs, etc.o NPT works with local volunteers to assist homeowners who are physically unable or financially unable to make necessary repairs to bring their property up to code
• If you notice possible code violations in your neighborhood, you can contact Julie Long 379-5563 anonymously if you would feel more comfortable.
• Many neighborhoods have been hit with foreclosed homes, which suffer from neglect.o If you see a tag on a door which says “Winterized” this is a red flag for foreclosure. Notify Julie Long and her team will investigate to help prevent property deterioration
• Officer Diana Damke spoke about Neighborhood Watcho Neighborhood Watch provides presentations for groups free of charge re: safety, identity theft, etc.o Anyone can make an appointment with Officer Damke for her to come and evaluate your home for securityo Operation ID and Bike registration forms can be obtained from Officer Phil Harden
• Conan Scott indicated that there are large metal “Keep Kids Alive-Drive 25” signs available if the HOA wants to purchase them for around $65 apiece. The city will install them for free.
• Vacant lots o Grass can be 12” tallo If there is a problem contact Code Enforcement (379-5422)o They send someone out to investigateo If they find a violation, they post a sign giving 5 days to rectifyo If failure to do so, Parks Dept. will come and cut the grass and the city will put a lien on the property until they are reimbursed
• Vehicles parked in the streeto Legitimately licensed vehicles can be parked on the street for up to 48 hours without moving.o After 48 hours contact police who will place a warning notice on vehicle o If vehicle is not moved within the timeframe specified, it will be towed
• Solicitorso “No Solicitors” signs posted around neighborhood must be purchased by HOAo Any solicitor must have a “Peddlar’s License” with photo ID on an O’Fallon Lanyardo Door-to-Door solicitation is legal from 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. 7 days a week
• Upcoming eventso National Night Out Tuesday, August 4o O’Fallon Public Safety Day and Open House Saturday August 29 at City Hallo Another Trustee meeting will be held in the fallWe found the meeting very informative and felt that a sincere attempt was made to answer all questions or provide resources for answers. If you have any questions, you can contact Vince Seyer at vjseyer@hotmail.com
Hope this helps!Jan & Vince

I noticed this weekend that DNI also replaced the wood framing at the 2nd playground (by the pavilion / bbq grills) as well as the wood horseshoe pit backdrops. I believe they plan to remulch this playground next week. I am happy to see our Homeowner Association Fees going towards visible improvements!

This week DNI had a crew replacing the wood frame around the playground area near the basketball court. They are also laying fresh mulch. Thanks to Tracy Henrikson and others who phoned DNI to make the playground safer for our kids!

From Ann...
I think we should get that soft playground surface to replace the mulch on the big playground. If anyone is able to meaure the square footage of the playground, I can get a quote for it.Ann B

Hi Everyone,
I wanted to give you an update. I called DNI yesterday and talked to Sheila about the entrance lights being on 24-7. She told me that they are on a sensor and there must be something wrong with it. She said that it would be taken care of. I also asked her about the playground. I said that it was looking pretty shabby that it needed more mulch, especially underneath the swings. I also asked her who was in charge of mowing the empty lots and she didn't know.
I then called TR Hughes (940-9300) and talked to Carol. She's always very nice. She didn't know about the lots so I left a voice message with Jason Hughes. Carol called me back later that day and said that Jason had contracted with a company to start mowing the empty lots. I asked her how often it would be done and she said once a month. I said that they need to cut them really short, that they usually don't do a very good job and that they should get their moneys worth. She said that they would start doing this soon. If you have any problems call them at 940-9300.

We can certainly give this a try! I will find out how to post the newsletter (through Katie) on here. And I can also e-mail the newsletter in a .pdf format so that you can print a hardcopy if that is what you prefer. Just e-mail me your e-mail address to annt07@gmail.com. Thanks Katie-I think this is a terrific idea and can work. We just need to get others on board.
